Hoping to expand users

Just to let the fellow Hoosier Grannies know, I haven’t figured out a subscribe process for this blog yet, but when I do you should be able to subscribe and receive updates by email.  Wish me luck in figuring it out!  I’m new to WordPress and don’t have their “widget” for subscriptions figured out yet.  Its actually easier on a website. …..at least for me anyway.  I’m also setting up Cynthia as an author…….and probably Jean.  I’m ready to hand most of the posting over.

Lost My Freedoms

Lost My Freedoms
[Tune: Clementine]

Lost my freedoms, lost my freedoms,
Lost the whole darn Bill of Rights!
Gonzales thought t’was patriotic
To lock us up all good and tight!

If you’re not with ‘em, you’re against ‘em,
Better not protest or think!
If you don’t spy on your neighbor,
They will throw you in the clink.

If you’re an immigrant or dissenter,
Better watch out what you say!
They will call you “un-American” and
Lock you up in Guantanimo Bay.

No attorney, no good reason,
They’ll just hold you in the jail.
Not a letter, not a phone call,
No one there to post your bail.

If you think as we all once did
Tha-at this can’t happen here,
Stick your head into the sand, and
Say goodbye to your derriere.

It’s time to speak out, time to sing out!
Time to shout out loud and clear:
Our civil liberties must be protected
Or they just might disappear.

Here in Florida, s’well as elsewhere,
Here’s the message that we bring:
The Patriot Act is un-American —
Let freedom ring, let freedom ring!

Song and note “Raging Grannies sing this song”

We are looking for appropriate verses for (to the tune of When the Saints-Go marching in for Lesbopolooza
Like–Oh, when we all have equal rights, etc–
So be thinking of some more verses.

To tune of Camptown Races

Raging Grannies sing this song
(Sit up! Listen!)
To show the “Christian Right” is wrong
In ev’rything they say.

Angry faces, filled with hate,
Taunt you, scold you,
Because your choice of a lifetime mate
Blew their brains away.

Chorus: (sung to the homophobes)
God would not approve
Of all the hate you spew.
Keep your dogma to yourself –
We don’t all think like you.

What gives them the right to say
(Who knows? Not us.)
That like with like is not the way,
And we must all obey?

Kids all need a loving home
(Oh yes, they do)
In a fam’ly, not alone,
Get out of those kids’ way!

Chorus: (sung to the homophobes)
You are not “The Lord,”
And we cannot afford
Your twisted dogma down our throats;
The world is not your ward.

Chorus (FINALE):
Two moms? Two dads? Okay!
So toss those laws away.
Love is love and we approve –
That’s what the Grannies say!
