Tomorrow, Friday, August 27, at the intersection of Fee and the
Bypass, from 4-6 p.m., the new Bypass Us Not group (see our new fb
page) will host its fourth and final peaceful protest re: the
overexpansion of the SR 45/46 Bypass. We will continue to create
public events in the future that call attention to the need to revise
the bypass plan so that it will be slower, safer, quieter, have less
impact on the community and the environment, and be much more friendly
to bikes and peds. All this could be accomplished with one simple
change: narrow each lane on the road. See other wonderful small
changes that could be made to this road at www.g-top.org’s site, its
incredibly well-researched document, “Bypassing Good Judgment.”
Our first peaceful protest drew 3 people, the second one drew 6;
thirty people turned up for last week’s protest. For tomorrow’s final
protest, we are inviting dancers and singers to stand with us, help
lift our spirits even higher, and celebrate our collective awakening
from the deep sleep of silent despair as we continue to witness the
wanton destruction of over 500 trees.
